Do you sometimes think there is something wrong with you because you can’t stop thinking about how anxious you feel, or when your next panic attack will come ? Do you think ’if only’ I didn’t have this distraction and discomfort interfering with my life, things would be so much better ?

Panic Attack and Anxiety

Panic Attack and Anxiety

Perhaps you feel the need to check in on yourself every few minutes or seconds to see how well you’re holding up from Panic and Anxiety ?

Do you think how successful, happy and alive you’d  be without Anxiety ?

You may have experienced how good it feels to think you’re beyond these symptoms and sensations but then feel saddened when they return and you’re back to the same old struggle, into a setback, not knowing when you pull out of it and get some relief ?

If any of this sounds familiar then read on and get to work with ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

If you have suffered from panic attacks, Anxiety, Depression, even Depersonalization these are all treatable and the cure is within you.

You just need to learn and practice a few techniques and adopt a different viewpoint about Anxiety.  It will be most beneficial to you to find a professional therapist to guide you like Susan Corbett.

Psychologists will generally diagnose someone with an Anxiety disorder if their Anxiety interferes with their normal everyday life. If you fit into that description, I imagine you’ve searched everywhere for some relief but have come up short on a lasting solution.

Don’t worry, no pun intended, this blog may help put things in a clearer perspective for you. I have struggled nearly my whole life with Anxiety, up to a point always thinking I was getting better, until one day it got much worse with Depersonalization. It was Anxiety on Steroids with no relief from Panic. I now happen to think it was a blessing in disguise. More about that on this page.

You’ll find most of what I believe is each person has the power to decide what is best for them despite what it seems like their mind and body are telling them. I used to believe I was at their mercy.

You may feel powerless against your mind and body as you read this.  If you are fighting your mind, that is not the answer. More about your mind can be read in ‘You vs. your Mind Machine.

Before you read any further, I need to let you know that I am not a licensed, certified, practitioner of psychology of any sort. I’m a fellow panic attack and Anxiety sufferer who thinks he has caught onto the real solution finally.

The solution is actually  a host of concepts and techniques now referred to as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT.  ACT is new and some believe it will become the replacement to Cognitive Based therapy or CBT.

This is a blog site  based on my own personal experience with Anxiety and my analysis and understanding of ACT as it pertains to me. Perhaps it can help you.

Since I’m not a professional psychologist take my advice with a grain of salt, read an ACT book and/or follow it up with a therapy session from a professional.

Try to keep an open mind while you’re reading this. If you are truly tired of not living the life you want due to Anxiety, feeling scared all the time, give ACT a try. You have nothing to lose. The principles are founded in Buddhism.

Believe me I’ve been at the bottom and am SO ESTATIC now that I am getting better. It’s a matter of time and persistence.  I thought I was in quicksand with my fears and Anxiety and have since learned how to roll out of it.  You can too !

If these pages spark your interest, I highly recommend you do some further reading on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) . I recommend in particular, ‘The Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety by John P. Forsyth PH.D and George H. Eifert, PH.D and ‘Get out of your Your Mind and Into Your Life’ by Steven C. Hayes PH.D

Reading this you may think ‘oh sure this will work, nothing does !’  That’s your mind talking ! Learn how to be at one with your mind.  It’s time to stop being unkind to yourself and reverse the flow to being kind and compassionate to yourself and your mind.
